Unless you've been living on a remote island with Luke Skywalker the past few days, you've probably heard that Leonardo DiCaprio won the Oscar for Best Actor for his performance in The Revenant at the weekend.

The media have made such a story out of Leo's quest for Oscar glory that now that he's finally won one, the question is: what does he do now? He's only in his early 40s and still has got plenty more to left to achieve in his career. Here's five things we think he should do next.

1. Work with Michael Mann

Scorsese, Spielberg, Tarantino, Scott, Boyle, Nolan. There are few big name directors that DiCaprio hasn't worked with at this stage but one heavy hitter that we'd love to see him collaborate with is Michael Mann. Pacino and De Niro worked with Mann after their Oscar wins and the results were Heat and The Insider. There's no guarantee we'd get a return of that quality from those two but we'd love to find out for sure.

2. Play a Bond Villain

Anyone that saw Django Unchained knows that DiCaprio's villainous turn as Calvin Candie was the best thing in it with the exception of perhaps Christoph Waltz. DiCaprio relished the chance to let loose as the despicable Candie and we could see him being one of the best Bond villains yet.

3. Do Comedy

Some will argue that The Wolf of Wall Street is a comedy (The Hollywood Foreign Press for instance) but the subject matter and the themes expressed in the film are very serious. When we say do comedy we don't mean do comedy like his one time mentor Robert De Niro does comedy. This is arguably the one genre DiCaprio has avoided thus far in which he could excel. It would certainly offer him a new challenge having spent nearly two decades now as being one of Hollywood's leading dramatic actors. He'd need to thread carefully of course but if he was to work with someone like Edgar Wright or Alexander Payne we think the results could be brilliant.

4. Retire Early

This is going to come across as ageist but the fact is the quality of leading roles available for aging actors is severely lacking. Just look at what the aforementioned Robert De Niro is doing now with the likes of Dirty Grandpa? Then you've got Al Pacino trying to get off with Adam Sandler in drag? Is it any wonder Gene Hackman retired after Welcome to Mooseport? Hollywood truly is no country for old men. DiCaprio has done some excellent work outside of acting with environmental groups and he might be better off devoting his latter years to those causes instead of leaving himself open to a battering from film critics.

5. Marry Kate Winslet

You know you want it as bad as we do. There's a reason DiCaprio has never settled down with any of the numerous blonde models that he's been linked with. His heart still goes on for Kate and as the video below highlights, the feeling is very much mutual.
