So apparently we should be gearing up for "Bambi on rabies" and we don't know how to feel about it.

You never asked for a 'Bambi' horror movie, but you're going to get one. Yes, the light and breezy (yet painfully heartbreaking) Disney animated classic is getting reworked into a live-action adult film which has been described as turning the titular character into a "vicious killing machine".

Yiiiikes. Talk about introducing Bambi to a whole new generation for future therapy.

It's all happening off of the back of that infamous 'Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey' live-action horror, which is set for release in the new year. Since the original 'Winnie-the-Pooh' book is now in the public domain and isn't exclusively a Disney franchise, director Rhys Frake-Waterfield decided to turn the cute little pooh bear storyline into a murderous slasher. Now he's doing the same thing with this little deer, this time around producing the film.

We all know that the most shocking part of 1942's 'Bambi' animated movie is when the titular character loses his beloved mother to some evil hunters. We're guessing that this horror version will see the deer lean into his dark side and get bloody revenge on the killers. The upcoming film's director, Scott Jeffrey, describes the film as "Bambi on rabies!".

Jeffrey said of his adaptation, which is titled 'Bambi: The Reckoning': "The film will be an incredibly dark retelling of the 1928 story we all know and love. Finding inspiration from the design used in Netflix’s 'The Ritual', Bambi will be a vicious killing machine that lurks in the wilderness.

"Prepare for Bambi on rabies!"

But 'Bambi' isn't the only live-action horror movie headed our way which was turned into a famous Disney franchise. Another title also in the public domain right now is 'Peter Pan', and a movie with the subtitle 'Neverland Nightmare' is also in development by Rhys Frake-Waterfield. We're guessing it'll be all about a weird man-child and his sinister fairy feeding Captain Hook's hand to a crocodile? Let's wait and see...

'Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey' is set for release in February 2023.
