Eight years on from her last movie, Cameron Diaz is returning with a Netflix action-comedy titled 'Back in Action' opposite Jamie Foxx.

Foxx made the "unretirement" official after posting a recorded phone conversation between him and Diaz. While on the call, NFL quarterback Tom Brady, who famously came out of retirement earlier this year, was added in to give Diaz advice.

Diaz confirmed the news on her Instagram Story, writing, "Jamie Foxx, only you could get me back in action!!! I can’t frickin wait it’s gonna be a blast!"

The actress officially announced her retirement in 2018 after a decades long career. Some of her highlights include 'There's Something About Mary', 'Shrek' and 'Charlies Angels'.

Foxx worked with the four-time Golden Globe nominee on her last feature film before retiring, 'Annie'. The two also worked together on 1999's 'Any Given Sunday'.

Production on the film will get underway later this year. Plot details are still being kept under wraps. Seth Gorden ('Horrible Bosses') will direct. Gorden also wrote the script alongside Brendan O'Brien ('Bad Neighours').

Foxx is executive producing the film with Datari Turner, O’Brien and Mark McNair. Producers are Beau Bauman for Good One Productions and Gordon via Exhibit A.

Diaz was a guest on Michelle Visage's podcast earlier this year and talked about her break from acting.

"Personally for myself, looking at what came along with my position in Hollywood, I kind of maxed out. I feel like I did it all, but I haven’t done this thing (raising a family) which is what I’m doing now."

Diaz gave birth to her first child with Good Charlotte Member Benji Madden in 2018.
