Turns out this is the movie adaptation we didn't know we were waiting all our lives for.

Anyone who ever lost themselves in the magic of one of Enid Blyton's Faraway Tree novels will know just how exciting this news is. The story followed a group of kids who found this special tree that could take them off to different lands. There was the Land of Birthdays, the Land of Dreams, the Land of Toys - basically a land for everything you could possibly imagine.

And it was bloody wonderful.

Now all of it is set to be brought to life on the big screen, and we couldn't be happier to hear that it is Paddington 2 writer Simon Farnaby that is behind the adaptation, so this classic series is definitely in safe hands.

"The Magic Faraway Tree books are a firework display of the imagination," said Farnaby.

"The pages are lit up with wonderful characters, humour, peril and adventure. Most homes have a well-worn jam fingerprinted volume somewhere on their shelves.

"I'm very much looking forward to bringing the likes of the Old Saucepan Man and Dame Washalot to the big screen for fans both old and new."

All four books in The Faraway Tree series have been optioned by Bond director Sam Mendes' production company Neal Street Productions, for development with STUDIOCANAL. Pippa Harris and Nicolas Brown from Neal Street Productions will produce.

No word on when we can expect to see this but we'll definitely keep you posted.
