Although he didn't feature in our choices to play the next James Bond, Tom Hiddleston has been mentioned more than a few times with the role.

In fact, bookmakers now have Hiddleston at 10/1 to play the next super-spy, although Tom Hardy is still leading the pack as the odds-on favourite. For his part, Hiddleston doesn't deny that he's fascinated with the role.

"I’m a huge fan of the series. We all went to see Spectre when we were shooting Skull Island in Hawaii. I simply love the theme tune, the tropes and the mythology. I love the whole thing. If it ever came knocking, it would be an extraordinary opportunity," said Hiddleston in a recent interview.

In terms of the rankings, Hiddleston's sixth-favourite to win. Ahead of him is Henry Cavill, our own Aidan Turner, Damian Lewis and, of course, Idris Elba and Tom Hardy. All actors with experience in action-orientated roles, you'll agree.

Then again, so has Hiddleston. The RADA-trained actor played Marvel arch-villain Loki no less than three times, all that required heavy stunt-work and more than a few fight sequences. So, can he handle the physicality of it all? Yes, according to his own statements. "I’m very aware of the physicality of the job. I would not take it lightly."

In fact, for his latest TV series, The Night Manager, Hiddleston's been training with the SAS and at thirty-five, he's the right age for the role as well. Daniel Craig, as we know, is more or less done with the entire thing and with the entire franchise likely to change studios pretty soon, it'll be a long time before we see anything even close to an official announcement.

What do you think? Would Tom Hiddleston make a decent Bond? Let us know in the comments!
