An all-star cast of Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, Johnny Depp, Chris Pine, Anna Kendrick and more lead Disney's attempt at owning Christmas and a few Oscars in the form of the film adaptation of Stephen Sondheim's musical Into The Woods.

Sondheim's twisted take on the classic fairytales of Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, and Rapunzel gathers all the characters from those stories, cobbles them together, throws in a witch (Streep), a baker and his wife (Corden and Blunt) and then let's all the magic happen. Hailed for his genius as a musical scribe, Sondheim's previous translations to screen have fared pretty well, the last one starring Johnny Depp as the titular 'Sweeney Todd'.

And at least any musical nuts will be calmed by Rob Marshall at the helm, seeing as his take on Chicago turned out alright and picked up several Oscars along the way. And with the triple threat of Streep, Blunt and Corden, the dark humour present in Sondheim's original work will hopefully shine through.

Into The Woods is set for release on January 9th, 2015.
