We've got our first glimpse of Ana de Armas as the iconic Marilyn Monroe in the teaser for Netflix's 'Blonde'.

In the teaser, we see de Armas as an almost uncanny Monroe sitting in front of a mirror. She's crying and begging for someone to show up. Her make-up artist re-assures her, saying "she's coming".

We then get to see some short shots of Monroe being hounded and circled by press and photographers. The final shot shows de Armas absolutely nailing the Hollywood icon's enigmatic smile, showing us that the 'someone' she was waiting for was her public persona.

'Blonde' is directed by Andrew Dominik and based off the novel by Joyce Carol Oates. The film is a mixture of fact and fiction and focuses on the two sides of the star, in her public and her private life.

Monroe was born Norma Jeane Baker and had a troubled childhood before becoming Hollywood's most famous face in the 1950's. Subsequently, her private life was subject to intense media pressure and harassment. Monroe passed away in 1962 after an overdose on sleeping pills.

De Armas said in an interview with Queue that Dominik "wanted the world to experience what it actually felt like to not only be Marilyn, but also Norma Jeane. I found that to be the most daring, unapologetic, and feminist take on her story that I had ever seen."

Joining de Armas in the cast are Adrien Brody, Bobby Cannavale, Caspar Phillipson, Evan Williams, Toby Huss, Julianne Nicholson, Lily Fisher, Sara Paxton, David Warshofsky, Xavier Samuel, Michael Masini, Spencer Garrett, Chris Lemmon, Rebecca Wisocky, Scoot McNairy, Dan Butler, Garret Dillahunt, Lucy Devito, and Ned Bellamy.

Netflix released a documentary following the career and death of Monroe in April called 'The Mystery of Marilyn Monroe: The Unheard Tapes'.

'Blonde' releases globally on Netflix September 23.
