'Citizen Kane' by Orson Welles is often scrutinised, mostly because it is so highly regarded and is commonly placed quite high up on many lists of the best movies ever made.

Enter 'Mank'. From the 'Mank' trailer which you can see below, we are given a brief one-minute tease of David Fincher's prequel movie to 'Citizen Kane'. And it looks quite incredible.

In this, which is Fincher's first movie since 2014's 'Gone Girl' with Ben Affleck, we see Gary Oldman star as Herman J. Mankiewicz. The screenwriter behind 'Citizen Kane' deals with his alcohol problems while also the demanding and eccentric Orson Welles, who is played here by Tom Burke.

We too catch a glimpse of Amanda Seyfried's Marion Davies, and Charles Dance as William Randolph Hearst, the man who became the inspiration for the 1941 movie to be made. It all looks spot-on cinema noir and something that we've been looking forward to for a very long time. Ah go on, Netflix, add 'Citizen Kane' to your collection too while you're at it too so we can refresh our "Rosebud" memories.

Here's the official synopsis of the movie from Netflix:

1930s Hollywood is re-evaluated through the eyes of scathing social critic and alcoholic screenwriter Herman J. Mankiewicz as he races to finish the screenplay of Citizen Kane for Orson Welles.

And here's the 'Mank' trailer.

'Mank' will be available to view on Netflix from December 4.
