Looking slightly older and with a lot less hair than before, it's the return of the cast of the '90s movie for a limited series run!

'The Full Monty' is getting a sequel series on Disney+. The makers of the British hit comedy film from 1997 are on board - and so are the original cast members.

Robert Carlyle, Mark Addy, Lesley Sharp, Hugo Speer, Paul Barber, Steve Huison, Wim Snape and Tom Wilkinson are all on board to return as their respective striptease counterparts Gaz, Dave, Jean, Guy, Horse, Lomper, Nathan and Gerald all these years later.

Almost 25 years after the BAFTA-winning movie premiered in cinemas, the new limited series will continue the touching - and the provocative - storyline about the South Yorkshire steel mill version of the Chippendales.

Here's a picture of the returning cast members from the series, which began production in Sheffield and Manchester just today.

Catching back up with the characters all these years later, 'The Full Monty' limited series on Disney+ will follow the original band of brothers as they "navigate the post-industrial city of Sheffield and society’s crumbling healthcare, education and employment sectors".

All about getting the community back together again in these difficult times, the series will "explore the brighter, sillier and more humane way forward where communal effort can still triumph over adversity".

As well as the recognisable faces from the original film getting back on board, the eight-part series will also introduce a whole new cast of children and grandchildren that will be added into the mix.

Academy Award-winning screenwriter Simon Beaufoy ('Slumdog Millionaire') and producer Uberto Pasolini ('Nowhere Special') are also back on board the new series. Beaufoy said of the commission: "We’re chuffed to bits to get all the Monty Men back together again – now with a chaotic entourage of children, grandchildren, pets and assorted hangers-on – to see what life in Sheffield is like twenty-five years on."

The production is part of Disney+'s goal of creating 60 local European productions by 2024, as part of new regulations for streaming services on this side of the world; at least 30% of Netflix, Prime Video, Apple TV+ content must be European.
