The full trailer for 'Welcome to Wrexham', which follows the takeover of the North Wales football club by Hollywood stars Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds, has landed.

The two actors took over the club in 2020 to much of the internet's confusion. However, the takeover was approved by 98.6% of the 2,000 members of the Wrexham Supporters Trust. They have since proven their full commitment to improving the club and the local community.

Announcing the series back in May last year, Nick Grad, president of original programming at FX Entertainment, said: "Rob McElhenney has been an all star on Team FX for years and now has partnered with the formidable Ryan Reynolds to bring glory to the 'Red Dragons' in the docuseries, 'Welcome To Wrexham'.

"Rob and Ryan will take fans inside the sport as never before, pairing their genuine love for the game with the welcome challenge of building on the heritage of this club."

Wrexham currently play in the National League, the 5th highest tier of English professional football. In the 21/22 season, the club finished 2nd, reaching the play-offs. However, the club lost narrowly to Bromley and lost out on promotion to the EFL League 2.

In the trailer we see the two actors arrive in the Welsh town and chatting to the fans. One young fan asks what their connection was to club, to which McElhenney replies, "there was no direct connection. It was just a feeling."

"It's an underdog story," says Reynolds. "And it's about interconnectivity between the club and the community."
