You've no doubt heard or know someone with a job that has an incredibly cool-sounding title, but it doesn't really add up to much.

It's like adding 'Executive' on to a title, just to give it a little bit of a boost. This job opening, however, might just take the biscuit. NASA has posted a vacancy on its official website for a Planetary Protection Officer, complete with a job description, salary, and benefits.

According to the job description, the Planetary Protection Officer - or PPO as they're known internally - is "responsible for the leadership of NASA's planetary protection capability, maintenance of planetary protection policies, and oversight of their implementation by NASAs space flight missions."

Not only that, the PPO is "the Agency's focal point for interactions with external organizations on matters related to planetary protection," but doesn't specify whether it's the Justice League, the Avengers, S.H.I.E.L.D, the Green Lantern Corps or the Fantastic Four.

To top it all off, the job comes with a salary between $124,406 to $187,000 per year, but no word if the job comes with a cape, a ring that bestows the wearer unlimited powers, or a young sidekick.

You can apply for the job here - and there's a good chance you'll get a business card with that title on it, too.
