Who else loved 'Art Attack' growing up? Well there's a whole new crazy conspiracy theory linking the presenter of the children's TV series to street artist Banksy...

The identity of Banksy remains a total mystery but a handful of Twitter users thinks they've figured it out. They're churning the wheel on a conspiracy theory that has it that 'Art Attack' presenter Neil Buchanan is the true identity of the political artist.

Last weekend, one Twitter user wrote: "Just heard that it's rumoured Neil Buchanan is Banksy.

According to the theory: "He's a musician and art has followed in the cities of shows he's done allegedly."

As well as presenting an art show, links also exist between Buchanan's heavy metal rock band Marseille and the artist known as Banksy.

Marseille performed at the Garage in Glasgow in 2010 and a Banksy artwork was found on a wall on Sauchiehall Street near the venue.

The band also played at the famous the Roundhouse in Camden, London, near another Banksy work.

While the evidence is flimsy, 'Art Attack' fans are getting a huge kick out of acting like it's true.

Of course, there had to be an official response from the man himself before this got out of hand.

Now, in a post on his website entitled 'Neil Buchanan is NOT Banksy', the truth has been revealed.

It reads: "We have been inundated with enquiries over the weekend regarding the current social media story.

"Unfortunately this website does not have the infrastructure to answer all these enquiries individually, however we can confirm that there is no truth in the rumour whatsoever.

"Neil spent Lockdown with vulnerable members of his family and is now preparing to launch his new art collection in 2021.

"Thank you and please stay safe."

Well, it was fun while it lasted.
