If they do enough reboots of TV series, we'll eventually get that reboot series of Columbo we've all been hankering for.

MacGyver, which ran for seven seasons from 1985 to 1992 and turned 30 earlier this week, became a household name and Richard Dean Anderson's strong jaw and mullet became an icon of ingenuity and getting out sticky situations with a paperclip and some elastic.

James Wan, the director behind Fast & Furious 7, and CBS are looking to do a new series of MacGyver that follows a 20-something genius who's recruited by a secretive organisation to prevent disasters from happening. This, believe it or not, isn't the first time that a reboot has been attempted of MacGyver.

Supernatural's Jared Paleciki was tipped to star in a 'Young MacGyver' series that never got off the ground. This time around, it's understood that CBS are putting a lot of money behind this reboot and are keen to capitalise on the recent wave of TV reboots.

Already, there's a reboot of The A-Team in the works, The X-Files series is due to premiere in the new year and even a Lethal Weapon reboot for TV is in the works as well.

AND YET THERE'S STILL NO SIGN OF A SECOND SERIES OF FIREFLY.

Anyway, let's all enjoy the theme tune to MacGyver and hope that it features somewhere in the reboot.
