Apologies for the headline. Someone had to do it.

The Aussie born drummer was apparently arrested earlier today in New Zealand. Police had ordered a raid on his home on the North Island. Seemingly they didn't like what they found.

According to The Independent, the 60-year-old has been charged with "attempting to procure murder, threatening to kill and possession of methamphetamine and cannabis."

Despite the seriousness of the charges, he made bail and is currently unable to leave his town of residence, Tauranga.

Rudd has something of a potted history with the band; after joining in 1975, he left 8 years later. He then decided to give things another whirl with the band in 1994.

The group are due to release Rock or Bust "later this year", presumably just in time for the Christmas rush. On the upside, Rudd failed to make any of the promotional shots for the new album as he was reportedly called away due to "a family emergency."

This is the latest bout of bad news to hit the band; news emerged recently that Malcolm Young is suffering from dementia.
